What are Dental Emergencies?
A dental emergency can affect a child or teen at virtually any time. Your child may be in pain or dealing with post-operative or orthodontic emergencies that need treatment right away. We offer full-service care for all emergency appointments and can see both new and existing patients. Our goal is to provide your child with professional care in a relaxed, welcoming environment.
Why is treatment of Dental Emergencies necessary?
If the emergency is not handled quickly, the problem can get worse and cause more pain as well as infection. Treatment not only puts an end to your child’s discomfort, but can prevent issues from worsening and requiring more invasive procedures. Whether your child has been to our office before or not, we welcome them in for emergency care. We work to see children in the same day as their emergency so that treatment is provided quickly.
What are some of the most common Dental Emergencies?
Children can experience an array of different emergencies. We will perform an exam on your child to find the root cause of the problem. Some of the more common emergencies that we see in our pediatric office include:
- Toothaches and pain
- Gum bleeding and swelling
- Wisdom tooth pain
- Loose teeth
- Loose or lost restorations
- Orthodontic emergencies
- Facial injury or trauma
- Broken, cracked or chipped teeth
What happens during your child’s Emergency Dental appointment?
Your child will come into our office, where we will take an x-ray of the tooth as needed. Dr. Priya will then examine the teeth and mouth for problems and to create a personalized treatment plan just for them. The treatment plan is essential in providing the care that your child needs. If your child has an infection, we will prescribe antibiotics as needed before treatment can begin. Our mission is to provide adequate care for your children in a relaxed and kid-friendly environment.
If your child is experiencing an emergency and you need to have them seen immediately, call our office and we will get them in as soon as possible.
